Exciting
times...I’m doing the sound recording for a short film
in LA for a friend of mine. We are posting all the
sound design at my work place Factory Studios. Really
excited about doing a project from start to finish.
Well...It’s
been a busy year hence the lack of blog action. I’ve
been working on lots of cool stuff at Factory as well
as personal stuff. Here are just a selection of stuff
I’ve been working on:
This is a stop frame animation an old friend Richard
Ardagh did of his printing process. All sounds were
recorded at the printing studio.
The
main news of this month is that I have accepted a job
as a sound designer at Factory Studios. I’m going to
miss being freelance butwww.factory.uk.comdoes
some great work and their a great bunch of people I
couldn’t miss out on this opportunity. I’ve already
done some great work and I’m hoping to push the
creative side even further so watch this
space.
I
went toWet Soundsthe
other day. Sound Art that is played underwater. It’s
a great experience and brings people together. The
work was diverse and very cinematic but it’s the
experience that makes it so good rather than the
sound works, I also went to the Whitechapel Gallery
where the same curator Marc Cahen has mixed up a
history of sound art into a 1hour audio piece. It
was a refreshing and inviting piece although some of
the work were not given enough time to breath. A
great way to learn about it’s origins though.
It’s has been a busy couple of months in the freelance
world for me. I had a 5 week stint at BBC studios
mixing a cooking show in their nice new theatres.
Anthony and I had interesting developments with Berwick
Post and our company Incus Sound. Watch this space...
Check
out the Bill Fontana ‘River Sounding’ Exhibition at
Somerset House. Really interesting sound installation.
Liked the way you could walk around the installations
and various levels giving you different audio
perspectives. Particularly enjoyed the deep sounds of
the bridge cable movement.
Had a lovely road trip holiday in Italy. Went to an
amazing Palazzo Grassi gallery in Venice. A beautifully
crafted mix of old and modern architecture with
conceptual art that has substance and not being
pretentious. I’d put them in my top 3 galleries in the
world.
