I performed a live sound design piece at Arts bar Sketch to accompany a theatrical comedy read through. Below is a video of the warm up to the event.

Check out the Bill Fontana ‘River Sounding’ Exhibition at Somerset House. Really interesting sound installation. Liked the way you could walk around the installations and various levels giving you different audio perspectives. Particularly enjoyed the deep sounds of the bridge cable movement.

Had a lovely road trip holiday in Italy. Went to an amazing Palazzo Grassi gallery in Venice. A beautifully crafted mix of old and modern architecture with conceptual art that has substance and not being pretentious. I’d put them in my top 3 galleries in the world.

AMAZING

I’m a FREE man and entering the exciting and scary world of freelance! Great start to it though as I sign on the dotted line to the brilliant Soho Editors.

Finally got to see Phillip Jeck and Jenek Schaefer live the other night at the amazing Kings Place building. Jeck performed his new album ‘Drift’ which has a real nice ambient gritty feel with some nice subtle moments. Janek performed a 55min sound piece where he placed FM radios around the audience giving a interesting spatial quality. The piece was supposedly about his new born child but I found it hard to hear this and overall the piece was 15mins too long and didn’t have structure or dynamics but saying that it was an interesting experience and great spatial sounds.

Big moves this month. Ditched my job to go into the crazy world of freelance. Starting up a company and a few exciting projects coming up. Also going to start CREATING sounds again now that I will have more time. Also check out this teaser I mixed with fellow Sound Designer Dave Pringle for my old friend Craig Griffith.

Funny Old World

Myself and fellow mixer Anthony are developing a limited audio post production company. Exciting times!
